My absolute favorite thing about living in Southern California is that you can never run out of things to do. Every weekend we hop in the car and set off to a new destination to play tourist for the day. Aside from our recent trip up to San Francisco, I can’t even tell you the last time we went on a real vacation. I polled you guys on Instagram and 70% said that you did want to see weekend travel guides so I’m super excited to share these with you all. First up I’ll be sharing about our day in Manhattan Beach.
When visiting LA for the first time, most people head straight to Venice, Santa Monica and Hollywood. But I promise you, there is so much more to do and see than just those things. Personally, we LOVE Manhattan Beach and the South Bay area. It is conveniently located right next to LAX so you can easily sneak it into your travel itinerary.
Head to the Beach, Duh!
Similar to many Orange County beaches, in Manhattan Beach you will find wide open strips of golden sand. The waves are smooth and the weather is absolute perfection. You will need to pay to park and most meters have a 4 hour maximum but some lots do allow all day parking. We love to spend about 2-3 hours at the beach soaking up the sun and sand.
Grab a Drink
After spending a few hours in the sun we usually like to go grab a drink at our favorite brewery, El Segundo Brewing. It is only about 5 minutes away from Manhattan Beach and it has a super fun atmosphere that is family friendly. They also have live music and food trucks quite often. There are also a ton of cute boutiques and restaurants nearby. P.S. Rock & Brews right across the street is really good and has a playground for the kids!
Shop & Eat
It was still pretty early when we finished at the brewery so we headed back over to Manhattan Beach to grab some late lunch/early dinner. We weren’t feeling anything heavy so we went to one of our favorite chains, Lemonade. There are also tons of other restaurants (including national chains) worth checking out in Downtown Manhattan Beach.
After dinner check out some of the 150 retailers (such as my favorite store, Free People) and do some shopping. They also have a huge Diane’s Beachwear which has the cutest bathing suits.
Let me know if you guys end up making it out there! I’d love to hear what you think!
