This post is quite belated, but I was recently asked by one of my readers about my current skincare routine. I figure now was as good of a time as ever to share. Let me back track a few weeks and share about my experience at Facile Dermatology Boutique. Let me premise this by stating that prior to this, I had never received any dermatological treatments.
I went in for a consultation and treatment with Breana Wheeler at Facile not knowing what to expect. Like I said, I was a first timer so I was a little nervous. I was very negligent with my skin in my teens and 20’s which has lead to premature aging. I’ve been very self conscious about the lines on my forehead and my skins texture for years. I didn’t want to do anything drastic and wanted to make sure I still looked myself.
In my consultation we discussed my current skincare routine and discussed adding a few new products into the mix. I was happy to hear that most of my current products were dermatologist approved. (Yay!) We decided on Dysport injections which are similar to Botox and I’ve been very pleased with my results thus far. It’s been roughly 3 months since my procedure and I’m just now noticing the results starting to fade away. Time to schedule another appointment I guess 🙂
The procedure was quick and relatively painless with little to no down time. She numbed me with ice prior to the injections and only had one slight bruise after the fact. Results started to show within 3 days and the full results settled in after about a week. I was very impressed with my results and I’d highly recommend them if you’re in the Los Angeles area.
My Personalized Skincare Routine
In our consultation she recommended in addition to my cleanser, that I also add in a Vitamin C serum in the morning followed by a moisturizer. I’ve used Philosophy’s Purity facial cleanser for about 6 years or more now and I love it. It’s non drying and unscented and helps to keep my skin balanced. Plus you can find it at Ulta or Sephora which is nice. The vitamin C serum is very pricey but I received it in part of my collaboration. There are more affordable options such as this or this out there but I have not personally used these products.
She also recommend that I use an exfoliant a few times per week. I’ve been using the 7 Day Scrub cream by Clinique since college which she said was fine to continue using. I only use this about 2-3 times per week after cleansing my face.
At night, I remove my makeup with a makeup wipe and use a retinol treatment oil followed by moisturizer. I’ve been using the Kiehl’s ultra facial moisturizer for years now and love the lightweight finish.
The final product in my routine is sunscreen. We all know how important it is to protect ourselves from the sun’s harmful rays. I use this Peter Thomas Roth sunscreen multiple times a day and keep it with me at all times. It goes on undetectably and does not irritate my skin at all. Liquid sunscreens always and up in my eyes or caking on and this one does not do that.
