Ever since we got back from San Francisco I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Mr Holmes Bakehouse. So, last Saturday we decided to make a day of it and spend the day in West Hollywood at The Grove. Their pastries really are that good, you guys! The Grove is a great place for shopping and casual celebrity sitings so it’s always fun to go out there. They also have a really cool Farmer’s Market.
This is the matcha croissant from Mr Holmes. It was SO good. We also got a lemon meringue croissant and the rocky road cruffin – both were incredible. (The Larchmont location is closest to the Grove)
After we hopped the girls up on sugar, we took a 10 minute drive over to The Grove. In retrospect, it probably wasn’t the greatest idea I’ve ever had but you live and learn. I really wanted to get some good photos of myself and the girls for Mother’s Day and we found the most perfect backdrop right next to the Farmer’s Market. We had to bribe them with going to the American Girl store afterwards but sometimes that’s what parenting is all about.
We did get photobombed a few times by tourists and it was a very warm and humid day. All in all I’m really happy with the way these turned out and think it was definitely worth it. The girls were good sports for the most part so we let them look around the American Girl store for a while before doing some shopping. In case you’ve never been shopping with an almost 5 and 7 year old let me give you a little preview of what that’s like.
I did find this super cute tank and also stocked up on my favorite v-neck tanks at Madewell. They’re under $20 and are super lightweight and come in tons of colors. I’m seriously obsessed. No trip to The Grove is ever complete without stopping by the fountain, so we had to take a picture while we were at it. If you have more time to spend I also highly recommend grabbing a burger at Umami and finishing off with dessert at Sprinkles cupcakes.
On the way home we stopped by the Made in LA wall off Melsose Avenue (8025 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles) to take a picture. When in Rome, right? These adorable crochet rainbows were right across the street so we had to pop over there too.
