Usually I like a quick and easy minimalist makeup routine but recently I’ve been looking to glam things up a bit. I still don’t have a lot of time to spend doing my makeup nor do I want to look overly “done up”. Most of these products I do use on a daily basis but some of them I use just when I’d like to look more put together. I’ll walk you guys through my whole routine step by step.
On days when I’m in a hurry I’ll use my favorite CC cream to even out my complexion (I use the shade Medium). When I have a bit more time on my hands, I prefer to use a moderate coverage foundation like this one by Too Faced (I use the shade Natural Beige for reference). Next, I apply a concealer to my under eye area and any blemishes I have. Right now I’m loving Shape Tape by Tarte (I use the shade light sand). On busier days I will skip this step.
After blending in my concealer, I add an eyeshadow primer to my eyelids to even out the tone. My eyelids have a natural pinkish hue and this helps to diminish that as well as keep my eyeshadow on all day. I love the MAC paint pots in the shade Painterly. I apply it using my ring finger but you could also use a brush to do this.
I also like to give my face some definition by adding a dusting of bronzer around my hairline and on my cheekbones. I then add a touch of blush to my cheeks. My two favorites are Warm Soul by MAC and Orgasm by NARS (even though I hate the name ha!).
I always do my eyes last. My lids have been primed for shadow and my brows are defined so I then dust a medium brown shadow over my brow bone and blend thoroughly. I also like to use a lighter shade on my entire lid and a shimmery shade in the inner corners of my eye to brighten my eyes and face. My two favorite eyeshadow palettes are the Naked 2 Basics and this one by Tarte.
When I have time I use a liquid eyeliner to define my lash line. After years of trying, I’m still not very good at eyeliner so that’s why I only do this when I have time to spend. I’ve recently started using a lash primer before my mascara to help give me a more dramatic look. Again, I only do this on days I have more time to spare. Otherwise, I go straight to my favorite mascara of all time and apply only to my top lashes.
Last I finish everything off with some lip color. For a casual, everyday look I use MAC lipstick in either Brave or Modesty. I’ve also recently discovered the Urban Decay VICE lipsticks and LOVE the shade Amulet. This is actually on sale for $9 right now with free shipping too!
Most days I will stop here but on days when I shoot blog photos or just want an added glow, I finish my face with a finishing powder. I just got this one by Hourglass in the shade Luminious Light and am ob-sessed!
