The key to a happy marriage is alone time. Unfortunately we don’t have family to help out with the girls and babysitters can be pretty expensive. When Jeremy and I do get a rare night out, we go all out. Luckily over the past year or so we’ve met some great people that we trust with our girls that have helped make it a more regular occurrence. If you’re planning a couples trip to Los Angeles or if you’re a local, here are 6 splurge worthy Los Angeles date night ideas that are well worth your time and money.
I don’t know about you, but I ran home from school everyday to watch Saved by the Bell. Zack Morris was my first crush and I always wished I could be Kelly Kapowski. When I saw that they had built a Saved by the Bell themed restaurant in West Hollywood I knew I had to go. They do have will call seating but it’s best to make a reservation online. Tickets are $40 per person which includes an appetizer and your meal plus gratuity. I went in with zero expectations and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and our experience.
If you’re looking for a one of a kind experience and you’re a huge animal lover like myself, this is the thing for you. We visited Malibu Wine Safaris back in October for our 10 year anniversary (which I wrote a whole post about here) and it was the experience of a lifetime. You take a jeep tour around the winery and get to meet, pet and feed exotic animals such as Stanley the giraffe. Tickets are $95 per person for the Giraffe tour or $65 per person for the Explorer Tour (no animals) and price includes wine tasting.
Due to the nature of Jeremy’s job, we have been lucky enough to get suite tickets to a few Dodgers games and it has been such an awesome experience. The stadium is located in the heart of Los Angeles. You get the best views plus food and drinks are included (bonus!). Suite tickets are usually available by invitation or association only – meaning, you have to know someone. Regular tickets vary in cost depending on opposing team, game, etc. Even if you’re not local, I’d recommend trying to get invited to a suite for just attending a local sporting event. It’s a great time!
If you’ve ever wanted to see, touch and experience first hand some of your favorite shows and movies, this is the tour for you. The studio is located in Burbank and you get to tour backlots and sound stages and several other awesome exhibits. You can sit on the actual Central Perk set from Friends and have your picture taken. They also have a real coffee shop on campus which serves Central Park coffee that was pretty delicious. The tour is approximately 3 hours and operates daily. Prices start at $69 or $54 for SoCal residents.
This is the only date idea that is not actually in Los Angeles but it’s close enough to have made the cut. I’ll admit, before we had kids, I wasn’t that into Disneyland. After bringing the girls there and experiencing the magic through their eyes, it will always hold a special place in my heart. Going to Disneyland without them now is still an extra special treat. We’ve only been so lucky once but it was nice to do things our way for once. Prices do vary based on date and whether or not you choose to visit both parks in one day.
The Magic Castle is located in the heart of Hollywood and it’s a private invitation only magicians club. You must be personally invited by a member of the club to be able to attend. I have not made it here yet, but, it’s at the top of my bucket list for 2019. Photography is limited and they do enforce a formal dress code. I’ll be sure to update you when we do get a chance to make it out there.
