3 Ways to Wear a Black Tee Shirt Dress

I know it’s been a long time since I’ve posted any outfit posts. I’ve been taking some time to refocus and figure things out but since fashion is a huge part of my life and my Instagram, I realize I should bring it back here to the blog. This post is kicking off a new series called 3 Ways to Wear. As I talked about in my Styled by Erika series, I very rarely buy something that I can’t think of at least 3 ways to wear. To revisit the Styled by Erika series, click hereThis helps me keep unnecessary clutter out of my closet as well as money in my wallet. In this series I’ll be showing you 3 ways to wear a featured item to help get you the most bang for your buck and break out of your style rut.

Here in Southern California, we don’t have a true fall season. It is pretty much hot or very warm all the time. I love fall fashion so I have to adapt my outfits for a warmer climate and also making them practical for mom life. Today I’m showing you 3 ways to wear a basic tee shirt dress.

It’s particularly windy where I live and I’ve noticed that fitted dresses stay put a lot better. I’m obsessing over this style from Old Navy. P.S. This one is on clearance for $10 right now. It’s super soft and stretchy and comes in a handful of colors as well as tall and petite sizes. At this price it is an absolute steal especially since I know I can style it numerous ways year round.

Look #1 : Casual Date Night

This look is sleek and simple for warm summer nights. Plus it makes you look like you tried much harder than you really did which is a major bonus for all of us busy mamas out there. These wedges are also super versatile and comfy too. For just under $60 they’re worth every penny.

Look #2 : Busy Mom Chic

This look is perfect for transitioning from park play dates to a trip to the grocery store. The fitted silhouette of this dress hugs your body so you don’t have to worry about your skirt flying up. Pairing it with sneakers gives it an edgy, casual chic vibe and makes it totally practical for every day mom life. Tying a chambray or plaid top helps to define your waist and give your look another element of interest.

Look #3: Dressy Casual/Business Casual

This look can be worn for the office, brunch and even happy hour. Adding a cardigan gives you that pulled together look and helps keep you cozy all season long. I wasn’t lucky enough to score one of the gorgeous BP duster cardigans from the Nordstrom anniversary sale but I found this awesome dupe. The color is super versatile and the fabric is super lightweight. It also comes in a handful of colors as well as tall and petite sizing. I’m wearing an XSP for reference.

These were just examples of 3 ways to wear your tee shirt dresses but if you’d like me to make another post with additional ways to style let me know. What would you like to see me style next?
Also, I’m currently working on creating a workout series for workouts that are 35 minutes long and require only dumbbells as well as 45 minute gym workouts. I’ve created a new group on Facebook called The SoCal Fit Guide by My SoCaled Life where I’ll be sharing workouts, recipes, accountability and more so feel free to join the party.
